There is a different Hunt's Pier video on You Tube (not darkinthepark's) that shows on-ride Flyer, shot of the Whacky Shack front, on Jungleland, on-ride Golden Nugget, and also Morey's Pier. It's an effin crime that Hunt's Pier was torn apart the way it was, and the remains of it allowed to deteriorate in the Hunt's lot. Bud Hunt would have NEVER thought of such a thing when he was in charge. It's also a shame Vince Kostek is no longer alive. He probably would have loved to see this. I just don't understand what was going on inside David Kami's mind in 1988/89, he was crazy for tearing down all those great rides. And the Morey's are equally as guilty for doing nothing with the Nugget and failing to save Hunt's when it could be saved, but they had no legal rights or ownership in Hunt's then, so they could do nothing. It's too bad he didn't get video inside the Whacky Shack on-ride, that's what I would have really liked to see. I failed to ride it in 1980-1983, and it was closed when I returned after a long absence in 95, and was gone by 96. I wish it could have been sold to another park as one piece, rather than being torn down like Dr. Blood's. That's what I heard from Anthony and Ralph, that the Whacky Shack, AKA Hunt's Horror after 88, was pushed into a dumpster in early 1996. I guess Dino Beach-to-be at the time, Catanoso brothers didn't want it. Also, the inside of the Nugget had some differences, like the skeleton horse, the Bill Tracy buzzards, that Bill Tracy-like crazy walls after the rotating tunnel, the elevator dropping down, the stacked barrels, the skeletons and TNT at the end. I wonder if it ever does come back if it could be restored somewhat to it's original form. Why can't Morey just leave it where it is and redevelop the rest of the pier with new rides and perhaps build a new wood coaster there and some sort of haunted dark ride. There was a rumor on Screamscape that something big was planned for Hunt's Pier. And, I wonder what the plans are for Sportland now? I thought they were getting a new coaster and dark ride, but did those plans fall through? Was the dark ride supposed to be a refurbished Dr. Blood's or a new one? Well, we now know that Dr. Blood's was never going to happen.

www.funchase.com it's on there on the main page. This is awesome stuff. I bet he didn't even realize it was going to come down in a few years like the Flyer, Jungleland, etc. The brothers here at darkinthepark didn't even realize in 88 when they were at Hunt's that it was the final year for many of the classic rides. It just happened without warning. I guess the owner at the time felt that the rides were too outdated and he wanted to attract a young audience with newer rides like the Kamikaze. But, for some reason he saved the Whacky Shack, Keystone Kops, Golden Nugget and Log Flume but scrapped the others? Maybe because the Flyer and Jungleland took up so much room and the train ride and car ride were in the way, and the Pirate Ship was in the way of the Kamikaze.

Anyway the video can be saved as a file to a PC? Whoop, never mind. the quality is too low for me to care. Maybe I'll email the guy who made it sometime. Yeah the footage itself was nice (not the encoding). Thats the WW I remember and fell in love with as a kid. Everything is the way it should be in that video. Even that hot italian polyp/spider ride is shown running on Mariners Landing.

Awesome, thanks! No I never saw that movie. Is it as good as the Goonies?
I hope that simple minds album is still in print. I still have an FYE gift card I need to spend.

Yes, The Breakfast Club!!! I KNEW it sounded familiar! There are so many things I wish I would have taken more photos of, but, unfortunately, you don't know what the future holds.
