www.angelfire.com/nj/wwbysea/SPORTLAND/drbloods2.htmWell no more Blood... from the doctor..... Dr. Blood PHD. I'm sure those nice props are going to Ant's private collection as well. I guess I'm just a "playa hata". I'd give my left testical for one of those WW darkride props. Ok not really but it would be a nice thing to have, nothing more.

That was sad I kinda went ballistic. Its ashame all darkrides end up like this! Only the good owners like Knoebels, Trimpers, Jenksons Boardwalk, and couple others keep everything in a great condition. Man I wonder what those guys i nthe picture were feeling and I wonder what Moreys were thinking and last what the hell is Ted doing!

OMG, they tore it down! I am upset right now. WW really sucks. If the Nugget goes I will be seriously pissed. I was holding out hope that Dr. Blood's would eventually be restored, but that is no longer the case. They're destroying the work of Bill Tracy, like Whacky Shack. I hope those props like the reaper were saved. What was the motivation to rip it down? Are they putting something else there? It sat there for 20+ years inactive.

I heard, in October, that, despite Ted's wish to restore it, there was pressure from the town and that it was beyond repair.

Very upsetting, but then again, not surprising. You guys are only getting a "taste" of more to come. There are so many things that I really wish were still around, but alas; they're all gone. I can recall my mom talking about certain things that were here or there and now, I can honestly relate to all she was saying. Never gave it much thought til I got older. It sucks, but that's life. The first time I went to Atlantic City after being away for a long time, many years ago, I got literally sick. That place used to be the no. one entertainment place for everybody! They can take these cacinos and condos and put the torch to them for all I care. All the beautiful piers that I remembered looked like dumps. I almost cried. And they are starting to do the same all over; while we just sit back and watch them. Why can't you just hold on to a ride or anything else and just keep it in good condition? I guess when business dies off, they just close it down and let it just sit there and rot. We live in an entirely different generation. I've seen it in all these younger kids today Might as well just open your own museum and remember things the way they were. Get used to it; it doesn't get any better.

There is still hope for the golden nugget. Its the only ride left to be touched. And I do belieive that the moreys are tryin g to figure this out. Its harder then you think. Theres the making room for space on the mariners landing, and moving it. Its all hard business in Wildwood.

BUT if they DON'T rescue these rides and do some work to them, what kid is going to want to ride an old junky ride. Where do you think they'd rather go?? To the more newer thrilling ones of today! If you never experienced those dark rides, then how will you ever know what you're missing? They can't let them sit there until it's too late and they'll either cost too much to repair or that they're beyond repair. Nothing was more exciting than hearing all those loud, wonderful sounds from the haunted attractions; being on the boardwalk at night. You will never know how much I miss those times. I couldn't wait til it got dark so everyone could walk the boardwalk. What memories!! The sights, the smells; will never forget them.

That's what I remember about the old Wildwood, the unique atmosphere and combination of all the different rides. Where else could you find wooden coasters, mini train ride (like Hunt's), dark rides, walk-through haunted houses/castles, and fun houses all in the same place? There's only a few parks left that have all that. WW still has 1 wooden coaster, dark rides, 1 walk-through haunt, but no adult sized train ride like Hunt's had. It was the mystery and anticipation that set dark rides apart from outdoor thrill rides, what was behind those walls? The old attractions like Castle Frankenstein, Castle Dracula, Haunted House, Whacky Shack, Pirate Ship, etc. struck fear in me. Hearing the spooky sounds from the outside, seeing the creepy exterior was enough to give you goosebumps. If places remove those type of attractions, then it feels like something's "missing". I had a ball in Niagara Falls, Canada because they had all those haunted attractions with those type of names/themes, Frankenstein, Dracula, Haunted House. For one night last July, I felt the fear again. I got video inside some of the haunts but it was too dark in some spots. I also enjoy Dorney's haunted houses, even if I've been through them 50 times I still feel the anticipation and fear while waiting in line. Today's kids born 1980's and up need something scary other than wild extreme thrill rides like skycoasters or bungee jumps or super shots like what Morey's and Dorney have, the tall tower elevator freefall. While Dr. Blood's is a significant loss, there are still plenty of other working dark rides around. Like at Morey's, Knoebel's, Rehoboth, DE, Ocean City, MD, Rye Playland, NY to name a few. I also have real fun designing dark rides in Roller Coaster Tycoon 3 and riding them.

Surprised they didn't just tear it down 20 years ago. I really don't think this affects the future of the sight anyway, even they were going to put a new haunt ride their they'd still have to bulldoze dr. bloods.

Oh, boy, here we go again. How you doing, lunatic? Don't think you will ever know the "real" adventure of a darkride....ooops! Sorry, you've already explained that in all your poems, so I take that back! ;D

Great pics. Hey, lunatic, is there a special place on the demise of these darkrides, that forever will be known only in photographs? May their memory live on and on.
