That sounds neat, John. At Dorney Park by me they have two haunted houses and a funhouse in Sept. Oct. There is no additional charge for them. Niagara Falls where I was just at has a great collection of haunt attractions on Clifton Hill, the amusement area on the Canada side.

Did anyone ever hear of Lizzie's house near Birdsboro, PA? My daughter used to go there every year around Halloween. It's really supposingly a haunted house.

Hello all, You'll notice that our recent announcement of Halloween at the Haunted Manor has been removed altogether. For reasons that I will not get into right now, Hollowgraves has decided to withdraw from Funtown Pier's October weekend openings. Hollowgraves is sorry to disappoint those that planned to attend. We were looking forward to entertaining you all with a brand new show and several new surprises. If circumstances change and we decide to once again particpate, we will make that announcement here and on our website, www.hollowgraves.com. Once again, we are sorry, JOHN Manager of Hollowgraves Haunted Manor

Oh well, I'll be going to Dorney Park's haunt event anyway. I do hope that Haunted Manor returns next year better than ever. I just might get down to Seaside sometime. I don't want to hear any of this farewell season, we're closing crap anytime soon. I hope that in 5 years Haunted Manor and the pier is still alive and kicking. Morey's Pier should build an attraction like this, it looks like the old school haunted houses of the 70's. Morey's Pier tore their haunted house down in the mid-1980's.

What's Dorney Park's haunt event like?

They have scary stuff around the park, costumed characters, 3 haunted houses, haunted train ride, stuff for the kids like mask painting and trick or treat street, and more. You can walk through the haunted houses as many times as you want for no additional charge but you have to wait in line if there is one and only 6 people can go in at a time.

Sounds really nice, though. Is there an admission price to get into the park? Are any of the rides open?

That is very dissapointing news. I did not get to go to Seaside Heights this summer due to lack of time and money so I did not get to do Stillwalk Manor or Haunted Manor. I was really looking forward to walking through Haunted Manor in October and playing some classic video games at Carousel Arcade and getting a slice at Sawmill. I wonder what the "reasons that (hollowgraves) won't get into now..." are for not opening. I hope it is not bad news for the best and only real walk through haunted house left in New Jersey. Oh well, I can still go and enjoy the arcade and a slice of pizza at Sawmill.... hopefully.

Once again, we're sorry to disappoint hauntfan. We were looking forward to keeping the house going through October and even more excited to create and run some new programs. An official announcement will be made soon, on our website, as to why Halloween is not happening along with some news concerning what we're working on for the summer of 2007. If all goes as planned, we think haunted house fans will be pleasantly suprised.

I have a question: If all these other haunted attractions at these parks have to be so careful because of safety laws, insurance, etc.; do these haunted house attractions during Halloween have to be concerned about that, too?

Yes, Halloween attractions have to follow the same guidelines. One of the biggest obstacles is having a sprinkler system which is why a lot of the Halloween attractions are set up outdoors.

Do you need some kind of permit before you start anything like this and then do you have to have it inspected? There is just so much involved now a days. When I was a kid, we'd stay out for hours and hours halloweening and would go really far. Today you have to be careful with everything. Things are just so much different.

Sorry it took so long to respond to this question. There are all kinds of permits and inspections that need to be done on an annual basis. The best way to explain it would be for me to just redirect you to an interview done by the owner of the Haunted Manor, last year. You can find it at www.hauntworld.com/safety/Haunted_Manor_Details.php. JOHN
