On Ebay there is a dark ride cart for sale from the Bucket O' Blood dark ride that burned in Sept. 1983! I wish I had $249 dollars. The seller is not too far from me. Nancy, do you remember the Bucket O' Blood? That was one of my favorite rides and the very first dark ride I rode. On Ebay search Pirates Cove Dorney. Pirate's Cove was the dark ride's name from 1962-1973 then it was changed to Bucket O' Blood. Bill Tracy did that one.

I think Bill Tracy shpuld have a shrine contributed to him. He has really contributed alot to this industry. Yes, I do remember The Bucket of Blood; another one of those "fond" memories. Why is there only 1 ride cart for sale? What happened to the others? And who gets the money from the sale? I'm sure there are tons of remnants from the past laying around in some dark corner somewhere. What do they do with the parts when the ride is "retired", so to speak?

I think the rest of the carts burned in the fire, they were inside the ride building at the time. The park was already closed for the season by a week when the fire happened in 1983. I have the whole newspaper Allentown Morning Call from Sept. 29, 1983 the day after the fire. It shows the remains of the carousel, and the remains of the Bucket O' Blood which was a total loss. It does show part of a wall that was standing which had a Bucket O' Blood sign at the rear of the building. What's interesting about the paper is on the front page it says "House yields to Reagan". Yes, I remember the great President Ronald Reagan. He did so much for our country and helped defeat communism and the Soviet Union. May he rest in peace. I'm sure what was left of the Bucket O' Blood was scrapped. Dorney's dark rides probably weren't up to code unlike other dark rides that are still surviving which is why Dorney got rid of them especially after Cedar Fair took over, they have higher standards in safety and security.

I had a cart. Had it back in the day, when wood was wooden and it all moved about. There was 27 nails. There was Forty Seven N.A.I.L.S. But Rafiel forgets nothing, and so does the Elephant with pink ears.

God bless Ronald Reagan. God bless Bucket of Blood!

GOD BLESS AMERICA, LAND THAT I LOVE------------What the heck, I thought I was on the wrong site here. Just kidding; I'm very patriotic. What are you talking about, mclunativ4ever? You mean a ride cart? Sorry, but I'm a little confused here. robert, did the carousel and Bucket of Blood burn at the same time? Do you think you could somehow post that newspaper clipping? Would love to read that. I do remember the old carousel and when they put the new one in. Knoebels has a wonderful museum with really old horses from carousels. It's really something to see. Was anything salvaged from Dorney's carousel?

So who gets whatever's left to salvage from any ride? Someone must have them to sell them. Where did THEY get them?

The Bucket O' Blood dark ride cart from Dorney Park was sold. The winning bidder is from York, PA and on his website he's in the process of building his own dark ride as a public seasonal attraction. He has other pretzel carts that he bought that were in a fire and were nothing but rust and he restored and painted some of them and got them to run. I emailed him to find out what he plans to do with the Dorney Park cart. Here is the website www.sinistershadows.com/ride.htm

I just went on that sinistershadows site. That is really some fantastic stuff! That is so incredible how he purchased them and restored them. Really, to have an interest and desire to do something like that is really incredible. I enjoyed watching that so much and the reading was very interesting. Wouldn't you just LOVE to do that robert? But back to my question again; these carts that were purchased; were they just in some storage area? Who owned them? And who sold them?
