February 8, 2008 Laff In the Dark is pleased to report that the Zombie Castle and Flying Witch dark rides at Rye Playland, NY will still be thrilling patrons when the park opens for the 2008 season. Although several other rides have been removed, these two fiendish favorites will remain to delight loyal and future fans. Laff In The Dark commends and thanks the Playland Amusement Park authority for its decision. Our sincere gratitude and admiration goes out to all laffinthedark.com visitors who participated in our Save The Rails campaign, which brought this matter to the attention of the public, both locally and nationally, and which also spawned a grass roots petition drive at street level in Westchester County. Concerned dark ride fans from all across America sent emails, wrote letters and signed our online petition to speak out in the name of preservation. Your voices were heard. It's been a long and agonizing wait, but when the park commences its 2008 season, a very important legacy of this historic park will not be just a sad memory. Finally, we ask that you continue your support of traditional dark rides by visiting Playland Park this season to ride both Zombie Castle and Flying Witch. The more riders they carry, the more likely is the county to recognize them for the popular classics that they truly are. And don't hesitate to let the park know you're happy that they did the right thing. George LaCross Editor Bill Luca Creative Director www.laffinthedark.com
