I just found out that NYC couldn't find a suitable location to move Astroland, so it's either extend the lease to next year (but developer Thor wants $3 million in rent which park can't afford) or sell off the rides by Sept. 23. The fate of the second Dante's Inferno is up in the air. I just hope it doesn't get shipped to Europe, Mexico, or S. America like so many rides. There are plenty of parks in the US that could use a Dante's. I guess when you live in a free will capitalist society business owners reserve the right to do what they want with their properties, including retire, sell, redevelop, close unless something is landmarked.

Sounds like you would rather have a society that doesn't allow owners to sell, retire, or tear down their property.

Robert. Why don't you concider getting a second mortgage to buy one of these rides like Dante's Inferno? I mean if you like these machines THIS MUCH it only makes sense to make personal darkride ownership an obvious choice.

Cyclone is a historical landmark, they can't tear it down, the city owns it. Where did you hear that? It sits on a separate piece of land from the amusement park. The developer can't touch it. And I heard the amusement park will be open another summer.

I saw a picture by picture of its demolishment, search for Cyclone demolished.
And the city has this new plan to refurblish the boardwalk, adding a 250 Ft arrow sitdown rollercoaster, with 3 loops. A even taller parasuit type ride that has airplanes that spin around it. A lot of thrill rides, a 100 ft slide, and a lot of other things, didn't hear of any darkrides through.

There was another wood coaster demolished several years ago called the Thunderbolt, maybe you saw that? Please provide a link to what you saw. The City of New York owns the Cyclone and it's protected under National Historic Landmark status.
