www.theotherorlando.com/blog/2007/03/skull-kingdom-gives-way-to-housing.htmlWhy does this happen to haunted castles? I though it was bad enough we lost Castle Dracula, now this. They can take their effin condos and shove them up their butts. However, a new haunted house is opening in Orlando, terrorinorlando.com We lost other dark rides this year, in WW, (Dr. Blood's, Den of Lost Thieves) Myrtle Beach, (Haunted Hotel). Also, Bell's Tulsa, OK and Joyland Wichita, KS will not open summer 2007, and the Bill Tracy dark rides Phantasmagoria and Whacky Shack (the first one built) face an uncertain future. 2007 is turning out to be an unlucky year for some dark rides. Also, Trimper's, OC, MD faces an uncertain future (higher real estate tax assessments) they have the Bill Tracy Haunted House and Pirate's Cove. It will be open this summer. I love the knit wit and kooky clock, and the crooked mine, and rotating barrel, crooked room, and more. It would be a shame to lose those classics. What's happening to OC MD is similar to what's happening to WW and other major beach resorts, the demolition of old motels for condos, tall condo buildings being built, higher land values threatening small businesses, more expensive places, shops, upscale restaurants, disappearing affordable family restaurants, etc. A couple of unique shopping villages were demoed for condos. It's nuts. Is there a future for haunted houses and dark rides in all this?

To answer your question "why" I believe it is because they are declaring victory on dark ride culture, alas doom beshadow's doom. All the darkrides left, it's the reflective border of the perimeter of the untapped potential that exists between a dimension of consciouness and a second dimension of patience.
The Universe is made up of one thing light, that takes two different types of forms: 1. Solids 2. Wavelengths and frequiences. And it is all defined by codes, patterns, one's and zero's if you will. The illusion of seperation which is just a limit of current and or contemporary perception is merely where we stand to judge it measurably. But indeed at this point the end of a period of Americana that spawned the amusement park traditions that we enjoy today are ceasing to exist along with the rest of the victorious spirit this nation has shared for decades now, alas now the future stands before us more looming and mysterious then ever before.
And that is why they keep tearing down ghost houses. Because supernova attitudes sprout up with the next big thing and before you know it it's over and the well paced keep going all the same to witness the whole cycle repeat over and over again.

I hate records that are broken. Theres no way to fix them either. Even if you glue them back together they will still never play properly.
