What year and day did Dr. Blood go up and what day did it come down?
If Dr. Blood had a tomb stone what would it say... you know?
Thanks.

Um, 197?-2007? I know it was built in the 70's not sure what year. It really sucks, though to see dark rides destroyed. I saw another dark ride being destroyed in Myrtle Beach on another site, the park closed after 50+ years and although some of the rides were sold/relocated to a new location, the dark ride was not and it was torn down on the spot a couple weeks ago. The name of it was Haunted Hotel. The park was Myrtle Beach Pavilion. It was built in 1978 by Funni-Frite now defunct, and remodeled by Leonard Pickel (haunt guy). And Skull Kingdom in Florida also has a date with the wrecking ball, soon. That was a walk-through haunted castle like Brigantine.

I think Castle Dracula's last open date was some time in Oct 2001, maybe the 31st?
When I visited Wildwood in 2001, Dr Bloods was just sitting there like in the deconstruction pics. I snapped a few shots but nothing that the deconstruction pics don't show.

Yep. Castle Dracula first opened 1977, perhaps spring, and it closed at the end of Oct. 1 month after 9-11. It burned Jan 16, 2002 and was cleaned up by spring, and a trampoline ride in the summer. What a disgrace, replacing the great Castle with a dumb trampoline ride. I heard the trampoline left and now it's just an empty pit awaiting it's fate. Yet another castle will meet a terrible fate as Florida's Skull Kingdom is demolished this year. It closed for good last Nov. Guess what is going on the site? Timeshares, condos, what else. The owner stated that the land was too valuable to continue operating as a haunted attraction. However, another haunt is opening in Orlando, Terror in Orlando consisting of the Mayhem Manor that was formerly in Myrtle Beach and a 3-D Fun House.

That would be a Leonard Pickel project. He is the founder and publisher of Haunted Attraction Magazine. Nice guy. I wish his new venture much success. www.terrorinorlando.com/Love the soundtrack.

I opened in 1977 too but I haven't been demolished yet. I had my 30th birthday on the 15th but no one noticed here. ;P
