I just rode Ocean City Maryland's Morbid Manor for the first time today. I have to say I was dissapointed. First of all it kind of bordered on being downright dangerous and jerky. Second, the stunts really weren't high quality. I did like the outside, it looked big and like it had potential, but it really is just carnival quality. I also, of course rode the extremely high quality Bill Tracy Haunted Mansion and Pirates Cove and both are still amazing and classic. I wish OCMD had rebuilt the original Morbid Manor walk through haunted house which I never went through but read was very high quality.

I rode it last summer, it was boring, the front was cool through. Sadly Haunted House and Pirates cove will be gone soon as Trimpers will be leaving, and condos will go up on the site.

I don't know if that is a definite fact that Trimper's will shut down all amusement operations. I just can't see that happening. That would be a devastating blow to classic rides. Although Myrtle Beach did the unthinkable when they tore down the great Pavillion Amusement Park which had the Haunted Hotel. I am so glad I went there and experienced it in 2003. These tourism shore towns are just never the same after they lose their classic amusement attractions.
BTW, my back actually kind of hurt a little after riding Morbid Manor. I wish they had just kept the dark ride they had there in years past, that was actually a pretty good dark ride.

all they had in it was like werid deformed guys with a loud boat kind of horn. Where did you stay at, I stay where the big high rises are.
Did u talk to the managers about moving ur attraction up there?

The first time I ever went to OCMD I stayed at Park Place on the boardwalk which was of course expensive. Another time I stayed at a place on the Northside of town, I forget the name of it. Yesterday I just drove the 3 hours down and back for a day trip.

The pier at OC MD was probably too cheap to build a dark ride like Stillwalk Manor at Casino Pier, Seaside. They actually replaced another trailer dark ride that was just as lame. I was hoping with a name like Morbid Manor they would have built something like Stillwalk Manor. OK, for any of you that rode them all, which one was the best? Stillwalk Manor, Dante's Morey's, Haunted Mansion Rehoboth, Morbid Manor ride OC Pier, Haunted House Trimper's OC, and (RIP) Haunted Hotel Myrtle Pavilion? Isn't it funny that both Dr. Blood's Sportland WW, and Haunted Hotel Myrtle Pavilion went down the same year, this year, after being there since the 70's? I hope Trimper's makes it. Those Bill Tracy attractions are the best.

Dante's Inferno (before the recent makeover) totally rocked. Thing was badass, big green devil leaning over the front breathing out steam, 3 headed dragon animatronically moving about. Tripped out mural of hell (my favorite mural in Wildwood) Rocking! Castle Dracula was badass too, it had a walkway over it's moat (I believe it was an exit, can't rememeber if it was an entrance) Yeah man, the castle... I'll never forget the first time I saw it, it was the 90's...
(Scene transforms to the summer of 1995)
"ah yes, the summer of 1995. That was the year our parents informed me and my sister that their was a bigger and better boardwalk then the Ocean City, NJ one we'd gone to in previous years. I'll never forget my first memory of Wildwood, we rode into North Wildwood on this rickity old bridge that seemed to be on it's last leg. And then all of a sudden we were in a land of sparkle and color. The city's and streets of the Wildwoods always seemed as impressive and magical as the boardwalk and piers. Every sign had sparkling lights on them, their were more odd shapes and neon tricks then one could imagine. This was when the whole town looked like the vegas strip. The 90's were a wild time in that town. The boardwalk was a popular attraction but in order too get too it you'd have to park and walk through a town that was like New Orleans on Marti gras day. And then the Castle Dracula was spotted for the first time. I gazed at that mammouth structure rising into the sunset sky. The noise of the rides, the crowds, the lights, and of course this Haunted looking thing that actually did require cajounies to step into, unlike most token dark rides. I remember we bought the ride thru/walk thru combo and I cried (I was only 9 and friggin scared) but alas it was all good. We rode the river ride first. (to be continued...)

(continued)
"A ghoul took the first ticket and tore it in half... or something, I don't remember that part much. But... then we got into a boat that had grim reaper sticking out of the back, I liked that little touch, real classy! And then we were off into the giant skulls mouth. From what I remember their was a excellent old skeleton guy playing an organ, and some actors jumped out and stuff, and it had a great underground murky moat feel. The rest is a blur. Then we did the walk-thru part. At this point i'd died and gone to heaven (before I later started going to hell) And the fun was only half over. In the entrance room a Vampire popped out from above the fire place and played it real. Then we were off on the adventure (after waiting for about 5 other groups to lead off before ours, all part of the suspenseful fun) And then we toured the old girl, it was awesome. A great crush room, great displays, great stunts, and an all out Dark adventure thru a once in a lifetime landmark.
Well, that about wraps it up. I remember going back to WW a couple of times and riding it again, along with Dante's Infernno, and the Jersey Junkyard. I actually vaguely recall Dark River as well, liked that one. Lot of heartbreak on that old island, lot of memories.
Like this one time, during senior week '05 me and Sal were down staying at this motel in downtown WW and it was night and we were chillin on the balcony when this Whigger starts screaming up at these kids staying at the motel across the street from us. Like their must have been a conflict earlier or something, but anyway this broomstick skinny white boy dressed in white t-shirt down to his knee's is screaming all this mad profanity up at these dumbfounded young folks up on this other motels balcony. Well Slim Shady decides to call it quits and storms off walking west up Wildwood avenue towards the projects (screaming profanities the whole way until it fades). So me and Sal were just chillin sipping on some brews when the screaming profanities start to fade back louder again. And then we see this "G" tard storming back towards our area again (my guess is he went looking for backup and found none) He's threating violence now, and the kids across the street just toy with him a little more for good measure. He keeps screaming, the motel manager comes out, gets in his face and tells him to get lost before the cops come, Grand Master P splits and about 10 seconds later the cops come looking for him, too late. True story, good times.

Did you know that the original Morbid Manor was designed by Fred Mahana like Morey's Haunted House, Castle Dracula, Hitchcock Manor, and Brigantine Castle? Here is a site for the old Manor a261.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/00231/06/20/231150260_l.jpg picture of it forums.corvetteforum.com/showthread.php?t=1714285 entire page profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendID=29734096 myspace Manor site The "new" Morbid Manor seems like a fraud from your description compared to the original. Now, with even Hollowgraves Haunted Manor gone from the shore there's almost zero walk-through haunted houses anywhere on the NJ/MD shore this summer. You have to go to Virginia Beach, Myrtle Beach, Lake George, NY, Niagara Falls, ON Canada, Gatlinburg, TN or Salem, MA for some permanent walk-through haunts. And there's very few places anymore with the combination of ride-throughs and walk-throughs, and there are only 3 wood coasters left on the eastern shore that are next to or on the beach, Coney Cyclone, Morey's Great White, and Myrtle's Swamp Fox.

Yeah Ocean City has the one that has pirates on the facade, and a pot with a guy in it.
