Hey plokoon, how are you doing on your parks in RCT3? I would love to see some of your other dark ride pier parks including the one with an abandoned dark ride. Didn't you do a Morey's Pier Wildwood park? I did a Wildwood, too with the Castle Dracula that burned down and Hunt's Pier the way it was years ago with the wooden coaster and dark rides. You weren't born when the wooden coaster Flyer was there on Hunt's Pier. The Flyer was torn down early 1989 along with the Jungleland, Pirate Ship, Ghost Town train and mini cars under the Flyer. The Hunt's Pier manager from 1957-1985 Vince Kostek passed away this June. He helped build the Flyer and other rides. I wish Morey's would build a new wooden coaster and dark rides for the pier and reopen the Golden Nugget. The Great White is the only wooden coaster on the shore in the northern US besides Coney's Cyclone now. And I wish the Nickels brothers would rebuild Castle Dracula. It's been 6 years since it burned. 2002-2006. That was the best dark ride anywhere besides Knoebels, and Niagara Falls haunts, and Rehoboth has an excellent haunted mansion ride. With the Haunted Manor leaving Seaside that leaves no walk-through summer haunt in NJ for 2007 except Morey's Mummy attraction.

Hey plokoon,
Let me try to address all of your questions.....
Wildwood has already been thought about and discussed. At this point, it won't be happening in 2007. We would have to already be getting it physically ready to bring there by now, if we really wanted to have it open in time for summer. Let's just say that things have been discussed and it IS a possibility in the future. It's always been our goal to have it in Wildwood and we may accomplish it yet.
As far as a second floor, it too has been discussed. It is possible but I don't see it happening in the forseeable future. It's a whole lot of work to make that happen and we have many other ideas within the existing structure that we want to see happen before we start adding a whole new level.
Finally, yes, that was me as the butcher. Glad you enjoyed the Haunted Manor!

John, you should try contacting Jack or Bill Morey at Morey's Piers to see if they have a spot for you in 2008 or later. Otherwise, there's two parks in Ocean City, NJ with no dark rides, they took them all down around 1986. Atlantic City would be a poor choice because it seems they want to get rid of all the amusements Steel Pier just closed for good as they want to build something else there non-amusement upscale. It would be great to see a 70's style walk-through haunted house in Willdwood again, though. Especially since Castle Dracula burned down 5 years ago this month. Morey's Pier had a 3-level haunted house from 1972-1984, and Hunt's Pier had a one level walk-through haunted house behind the Golden Nugget 1989-90. And Fun Pier had Castle Frankenstein between 1978-1982, burned Aug 1984.

Robert, thanks but we're already aware of who we could or should to talk to and, as I have already stated, discussions have already happened. We've functioned as a business for over a decade now and are perfectly aware of who runs what.
Ocean City has been considered as a backup for some time now. We have never considered Atlantic City as even a remote possibility, even before they lost Steel Pier.

Hmm, interesting. Maybe pick Ocean City Maryland, naah. To far right?

Yeah, while I won't say it's entirely impossible, Maryland is a bit too far. The Haunted Manor is basically a two man operation consisting of me (the manager and lead actor) and the owner who does the majority of the maintenance. Actors are hired on a seasonal basis and there are no guarantees they will return the following year. We're both based out of NJ ourselves. I live about 90 minutes away from Seaside and could deal with living that far away for three months. I'd take about two days off a month, during that time and it was pretty rough to give up my home life and friends for that time. If I was in Maryland for three months a year, it would be even rougher for me to get back and forth. On top of that, the owner woudn't be able to make it down as often for maintenance. So Maryland is not an ideal spot for us.

Did you design the rooms? I loved the clown strobe room.

No. While I have contributed to design additions and such, the rooms were all designed and completed before I came to the Haunted Manor.
Yeah, the strobe room, while very minimalist, is one of the most popular rooms in the attraction.
One of the real shames about having to leave is that if things hadn't gone sour with the pier, 2007 would have seen major changes to the rooms. In fact, there was going to be an entirely new room that we already started work on.

Can't you still add on? You should have a crooked room.

The thing is you have so much detail into a cruched building, like the floors have stunts at the bottom.

On the subject of Ocean City MD the pier used to have a 3 level walk-through haunted house called Morbid Manor but it burned down around 1996. There's a my space page about it. Now they have a large dark ride there called Morbid Manor, new last year, replacing a smaller two level dark ride that was there since 1998 or so. Yours would have made an acceptable substitute there but like you said, Maryland is too far. Ocean City, MD does have two Bill Tracy classics, at the Trimper's amusement park, the Haunted House and Pirate's Cove built 1962. Wildwood lost all its Bill Tracy dark rides, well except the Nugget and Dr. Blood's. Most of the lost Bill Tracy rides were on Fun (the current Morey's Pier with the Great White) and Hunt's Piers. I would rather see you go to a place where there are existing dark rides, in that case Wildwood would be the only alternative because in NJ only Keansburg, Seaside, and Wildwood have dark rides anymore. One more thing, laugh, do not go to Niagara Falls, Canada, with your haunt, they already have too many haunted houses and you would have to deal with a foreign government and customs/immigration officials and new passport border crossing rules by 2009. Unless you set up the haunted house on the NY State side like they already have one.

Can we add on? sure. once the house is re-assembled, we can always add new stuff. It's not impossible that another section could be added for more rooms. I wouldn't expect that much in the forseeable future but it's always possible. We constantly added stuff, year by year, in Seaside. We do have a lot of detail but I wouldn't say that it's crunched. The Manor is actually acknowledged by the state as a LARGE funhouse attraction. So while it may seem small to some, being one floor, it's not as small as most think. I've had many people think it looked tiny from the front and come out later not realizing that it went back so far. As far as "floors with stunts at the bottom," I don't know what that means.
As far as bringing it to Canada..... if I've already claimed that Maryland is too far, I think a move to Canada is pretty much out of the question. Don't sweat it.
