Well, robert, all I can say at this moment is, yes, I AM sick. How did you find those sites? I emailed alot of the old Dorney pictures to my son. I even remember putting him on those rocket rides. I honestly didn't know they redid that whole area like that. That is really pathetic! Why couldn't they keep something there that is really original??? And look at the lines in the picture for Journey to the Center of the Earth!! Every single time I ever went on that it was ALWAYS full. A ride like that is nice for kids who are still too young to go on the bigger ones. Those pictures made me sit here and just shake my head. I remember stabding there waiting to go on the Thunderhawk and watching the bumper cars. It was always so noisy in there, remember? That DORNEY MANSION SHOULD HAVE BEEN MADE INTO A MUSEUM!!!!! I remember that well. The arcade was always reasonably full, too!. I have some old pictures of that whole area somewhere, taken in the 40's, when my mom went to Dorney Park. I believe one has the arcade in the background. Yes, you'd walk down that hill and on the bottom was the Gold Mine. And the parking lot and parking attendant box!!! I remember that like it was yesterday. You paid to park and that was it. Just paid for any rides or food. Everything was so much nicer then. I am REALLY surprised they've kept Cedar Creek there with the ducks. Guess they had to, since it IS a creek. You, know, honestly, I don't even like going to these places anymore. I know you have to have change, but I also think you get alot of money-hungry people who will do anything to make a buck. I hardly know Dorney Park anymore and all the bus-loads of people and crowds; I just can't deal with. I think all these parks, Hershey, Dorney, want to outdo each other. Well, I'll still take Knoebels. I feel more comfortable there. Thanks for sharing the photos. No doubt I'll come back later and look at them again and get sick all over again. : (

THANK YOU SO MUCH, ROBERT! My eyes were glued to the screen! Some of those pictures brought back so many memories! I remembered ALL those older rides. Those pictures were so fantastic; yet sad, too. because alot of those things are no longer there. And the picture of the ride cars being sold at auction!!!!!!!!!!!!! Who buys things like that? Other parks? I wonder what they would ask for something like that? I tried to email some pictures from these sites to my son but he said he didn't get them, so I'm just going to give him the web site. He will be so thrilled!! I know I will be going back and going back to stare at these pictures now---thanks to you. : ) If you find any more, I'd sure appreciate it. Do you have that book; was it Mr. Ott wrote, about Dorney Park. I wonder if I could buy that on Amazon.com? I buy alot of books from there. Do you know the exact title?

The Dorney Park book by Bob Ott and Wally Ely is the Images of America book. Wally is a friend of Bob Ott and he knew my uncle, my mom's sister's husband when he worked in a bank in the 70's. I met both of them a few times. Wally volunteers at a steam train ride at Kempton, PA. He has childhood memories from Dorney Park. I think there is a picture of Wally in the book riding the Water Skooters boat (taken out a few years ago around 2000) as a child. Those were gasoline-powered boats that ran on a track in Cedar Creek. They were located directly across from the Zephyr train station. Nothing is left now, you woun't even know any boats ever existed. The boat station was torn down I guess.

robert, everytime I talk to you you bring back more memories for me!!! The Water Scooters!!!! I remember you could look down and see the track under the water! I almost forgot all about them! I rode the fish paddle boats many times when the pond or pool was there. And I used to feed the seals there while they'd be sitting on a large rock. Weren't the ski lift chairs around there, too? beside Cedar Creek? I am so glad I ordered the right book then. I ordered the Dorney Park book from Amazon and it's on back order. Can't wait to get it now. The one I have on PA's amusements has alot about Dorney, too. I just think it's really sad that they tore down the FOUNDER'S house. That is too pathetic to even go into right now.
