Hoping some of the dark ride historians might be able to help me out.
In the mid-to-late seventies, as a child, I went on a spooky dark ride at a tiny little carnival that had set up in my hometown of Ardmore, Oklahoma in the parking lot of a shopping mall (what today would be seen as a very small shopping mall). The town was about 25,000 people, though the carnival was quite small.
I remember it being very dark, with a light and possibly a buzzer sound at particular intervals to illuminate scary stuff, including (in my distant memory) a devil mask.
While I know it is likely impossible to pinpoint the exact manufacturer or etc (and sadly, my hometown newspaper is not yet digitised, and this could have been anywhere from 1976-1979), I am curious if anyone out there might have photos of this general type of ride from this era?
And any thoughts on possible manufacturers... obviously, the ride itself could date to many years earlier.
I'm being very vague, and so my apologies in advance, but I'd be curious of any feedback.
Also, I don't seem to find a book on the subject of dark rides --- is there one?
THANKS!
