Been reading these posts and in my opinion, all this is a farce. No big amusement organization is going to come on here and tell you what they're going to do and then keep coming back and posting messages. Really rediculous!

OK you got to be kidding right? the nickels took their money and skipped town. if you go to wildwood they don't have any signs that the nickels even OWN the pier anymore. the famous horse race game that Angelo nickels use to MC himself is gone!!! this pier isn't coming back, neither are the nickels they are long gone with their money from all the years the castle and pier was open and took off.(prolly back to their homeland!) nothing is goin on at the site. even tho the land that the castle and theater sat on is open wide to developers. my guess a hotel or condo will be built. wildwood higher ups will NEVER let another castle or dark ride be built cause it wont be DOO WOP friendly. lets face it, this is a big hoax. where do the nickels find time to place a post here?? gimme a break , as much as i like to see a new castle go up, lets face it NEVER GONNA HAPPEN!

Have to agree with you, gljh319. I don't know about a hotel; kind of close, don't you think? I just finished a book about Pennsylvania's amusements and alot of parks went under because of high insurance costs; since the Pennsylvania law about safety came into affect There was just an accident at Knoebels with a ride. You think those people aren't gonna sue? This whole world is sue crazy and it revolves around safety; which is good, in a way. But people sue over any tiny thing these days. Being in the amusement business or doing anything else; you almost have to be afraid if something happens. It is VERY VERY unlikely that corner will be rebuilt with any kind of Dark ride.

Yeah, nancy that is why Cedar Fair new owners of Dorney Park tore down the old dark rides such as Journey to the Center of the Earth after 1992. During the family ownership, they took care of the ride and painted it. But, the next owners from Ohio, Cedar Fair are more strict and concerned about safety so they just tore the whole thing down during the 92-93 off season. It was a dark tunnel with boats with a lift and drop at the end, it was one of the classic "old mills" or "mill chutes" that are extremely rare today. I guess they were afraid of the dark tunnel and the age of the ride, with the crazy crowds they get now, groups of buses from NYC, etc. the ride wouldn't work today. It would be too risky for the company that runs the park. Someone could light up a cigarette in there, start fights, or make out. And anyone could sue for the smallest thing. The walk-through haunted houses Dorney Park has are safe, when they are open Sept/Oct they have extra security guards on hand in case something happens. And of course fire extinguishers. The floors have glow in the dark dots for safety so people can find their way. Knoebels has a great haunted mansion ride. I guess they are able to keep it going because they charge extra to discourage vandalism. It is highly unlikely that Castle Dracula will be rebuilt because of all the complications. It would have to be built to new codes that weren't in effect when it was originally built in 1976. I was just at Niagara Falls and they have several haunted attractions with dark hallways and stairs. I'm amazed those attractions lasted this long, the Frankenstein attraction was built in the 60's, and the Castle Dracula was built in the early 70's, and the Haunted House 1980. Dark hallways and stairs in the dark are a lawsuit waiting to happen. I suppose they have enough insurance to cover them.

Hi, robert! Been looking for you! Did you look up the questions I asked you? Where were you? I remember Journey to the Center of the Earth. I loved that ride! When I used to go on it, there was always a line but I guess now a days some kids might not think much of it. It used to smell real musty inside, but to me, was still creepy. Some places, like Cananda, still have the older rides; we have torn down here. But you have to remember, their laws and safety regulations are alot different then ours. Every state carries their own set of rules to do things. Being a native of PA, I know they're really strict with different laws. Years ago you went out to enjoy yourself and have a good time. The kids today are different and more daring and some of the parents aren't that much better. Alot of parents, even though their kid might have been wrong in doing something, will sue anyway for a lousy dollar. It's hard having a business or anything today.

Ah, my favorite of all time, those wooden roller coasters. You're very mysterious, mclunatic4evr.

I am a mystery wrapped in an enigma. An enigma wrapped in a soft shell taco. A soft shell taco wrapped in a used blanket. A used blanket wrapped in dead possum skin. A dead possum waiting to be served at a brazilian restaurant.

I think I'm about to throw-up!! At least you gave a much longer post than the others you made. It's alright to be mysterious. Sometimes it's better that way.

I can't believe it's been over 14 years since my first post on this message board. Glad to see the boardwalk in Wildwood is still rich in dark rides and classic amusements.
