Hello everyone. I have been referred to this board by an associate. I am happy to announce that development plans are underway for a new Castle Dracula Project. I just want to gauge from the members of this message board if there still is an interest in such a project. I still can see that there are some old fans of the Castle who frequent this board. Let me know your thoughts. Thank you for your time in this manner. Nickels Midway Pier

Is this true? Are you really one of the Nickels brothers or work for them? I hope this isn't another hoax, we had some of those already. If there would be another castle planned, they should get some ideas from Brigantine Castle on this site and the former Castle Dracula to build an even better castle. Now that the Shore 4 Theater is gone they should have bought that land to build an even bigger castle than before. Well, it took 4 years since the fire for action to be taken. They claimed they were rebuilding the castle or something similar in 2002 after the fire but nothing happened. I miss Castle Dracula! It was one of the best haunted attractions I was ever in. I haven't been to Wildwood since 1998 when the Castle was there, as well as both theaters Casino (Photon Laser Game) building and Shore 4 and all the motels, and the Golden Nugget on former Hunt's Pier was running. You guys should check out the article on Niagara Falls on this site about all the haunted attractions they have there, including a Castle Dracula. About SIX haunted houses in one place? Remember Wildwood about 1980 when they had the most number of dark rides/haunted houses at one time? Now, they have about five operating dark rides, and one walk-through (Mummy 3D on Morey's)

Yes Robert we are considering planning and building a new haunted ride or walk through attraction on the former Castle Site. Township approval and building codes have been approved so its only a matter of time before we begin work on the project scheduled for a 2007 May opening. We would love your input on thoughts and ideas for the new attraction that will be a tribute to the old castle as well as a whole new terror experience. Blueprints will be posted here asap. Thanks again for your interest Robert and have a great day.

If this is true and you do rebuild the castle, please rebuild the front room, grand hall, whatever you call it with the fireplace and the Dracula painting above. That was one of the best parts of the castle because it built up suspense as you waited for something to happen. And the cellblock, blood laboratory, and execution room. How about a room of coffins where one of them opens randomly with a live Dracula inside (a live actor lays inside a coffin and jumps out when a group of people comes) And please make it longer this time. I was kind of disappointed at the walk-through portion of the castle being so short, after the crush room you were out, then you went down the stairs to the Cedar Av. boardwalk where the games, food stands etc. were along the north side of the castle. They never used the second floor for the public tour except a small portion of it where you crossed over the cellblock and went downstairs again to enter the crush room. Brigantine was twice as long as Castle Dracula. I like ride throughs, but Wildwood is lacking a good walk-through with the demise of the old Castle. Curse of the Mummy on Morey's just doesn't cut it. It would be nice to make the new castle or whatever with both a ride through and walkthrough combination like before. I wonder if Bill and Seph (webmasters of this site) know about this? The news about a new attraction coming to Nickels?

I'd rather have a traditional walk-through castle back than a high-speed thrill ride in the dark but I guess whatever makes the most money. Anyway, do you Nickels know ContessaAnisha (Anita) from way back when she worked at Castle Dracula from the opening in 1977 through 1985? She's back in Wildwood now. I hope the new attraction employs live actors then maybe some of the old castle workers can have their jobs back!

Another thing, Nickels I hope that you are being truthful about this because I emailed the webmaster of this site to investigate you and to find out if this project really is happening. One person who would know about any new castle (or temple?) is CastleAlan, Alan Shoesmith who was the last manager of Castle Dracula.

Not only is our organization being truthful with you we would like to extend the offer of perhaps you working with us on the design and room themes of the new dark ride attraction that we will be building in addition to the indoor roller coaster. We would love to try to re create the Castle and Dungeon boat ride in all its 1976 glory with all of the original rooms and sets intact. Robert, you would be a valuable asset to the Nickels Midway team. Interested? Please let us know. Your knowledge and imagination is very appealing to our company. Thank you for your time and interest in these matters.

Alan Shoesmith is no longer interested in being general manager of the new dark ride attraction. The position is all yours Robert if you are interested. Let us know and thanks again for your interests in Nickels Midway Associates.

Hello again and thank you for your generous interests in our future project. We are still very much in the planning stages and are now working on a contact e maill and website. The company sees that there is a favorable interest in building a new dark ride walk through and ride through attraction as well as a new Chamber of Horrors Wax Museum and Evil Fun House ride. We are very thrilled with the prospect of bringing top notch gory and high startle factor dark amusements back again to the Wildwoods. We feel as a company that the boardwalk atmosphere has missed these type of attractions for far too long. We are also looking into bringing back a much missed ride of Wildwood's treasured past, Hitchcock Manor as well as the Hell Hole Rotor Ride. Thank you again for your interests in Nickels Midway Amusements.
