Check out the link www.amusementpics.com/Wildwood/WWCBO08/071208-115.jpgIt seems to be where the mini golf is located towards the back of the pier. Lets hope they do the right things with it. I would love to see a new Skua type of walk through Ghost Ship with live actors. Looks like they are consulting Halloween Productions again who did the Dante's remodel. I can tell by the facade artwork. Hope for the best. More here. www.amusementpics.com/MPCBTO.htm

Well, finally Morey's is building a NEW dark ride attraction, not a remodel of an existing one. I hope though, they don't scrub the dark rides on Fun Pier, Adventure Pier. The Haunted House (1972-1984) on Morey's was supposed to be scary. They should rebuild something like that. I'm sure haunt technology has improved since 1972 even though Fred Mahana, Bill Tracy, etc. were great haunt builders. However, this new "haunt" will be no Castle Dracula. I don't think any haunt could top that.

The golf course isnt even a building ,just a bunch of walkways on pilings ,They need to a lot of work before real work can even begin . And Robert you always hold things up to Castle Dracula ?? I may be wrong but didnt you say you never went in ?? If thats the case then you never got to see the real Castle !!!! smell the mold , get bit by sand flees, work 16 hours a day 6 days a week Oh and my Favorite Work with people who had this real fear of soap and water

I was in the castle! Aug 1995, June 1996, and June, 1998. (dungeon boat 96 and 98) I have a few photos and some audio tape recordings from the outside and inside. Now those recordings are priceless. I found an audio file of this, www.ilovewavs.com/Holidays/Halloween/Music/Bach%201031.wav it should be familiar to all of you that visited or worked there. There is a YouTube video of a virtual Castle Dracula that someone was building on Roller Coaster Tycoon 3. I almost built one but never finished it. It has both the Dungeon (a log flume ride) and the Castle part (a mini-golf path) but the exterior structure walls and roof aren't finished. Heck, I was going to do an entire old Wildwood with Hunt's Pier, etc. but never finished it. I still have the files.

Draculas Castle is the standard of which all dark rides will be judged. real bats, mold, and sand fleas included. The mold was nice I must say, I loved the smell of Dracula's Castle.

Too bad because Wildwood has so few dark rides as it is, the Nugget is gone, Dr. Blood's is gone, nothing has been done on Nickels' Midway Pier/Splash Zone with a new haunted attraction after 7 years, the Den of Lost Thieves next to Nickels moved to Tweetsie RR, Blowing Rock, NC. I was looking forward to the new haunted ship project, hope the Morey's don't delay it too long. I guess they don't want to invest in custom rides/attractions right now.

Well it looks like the project is a definite go. The Mini golf is closed for a reason. They will turn that whole area into a dark ride called Ghost Ship Island. In the latest issue of the Cape May paper Exit Zero, regular columnist Terry O Brian who writes in his Undertow column that he was contacted by the Moreys to come up with a back story for the ride. Then it was presented to a group of about 150 Dark ride and Coaster Enthusiasts who discussed the ride and what the public would like to see in it. Terry said he was given photos and notes about the project. It seems they are really doing this one up big with a whole back story like the Disney Haunted Mansion to go along with the ride. Sounds like it may be a walk through as well. Exciting news for those of us who miss all the great lost Dark rides from the past. When I hear more about this I will keep the board posted.

What happened to the Nickels new haunted attraction project? Did they give up on it? I hope not because there is a big void there where Castle Dracula was and a new attraction would be a big draw for the boardwalk. I was hoping they would go with a traditional horror theme like Castle Drac was rather than Egyptian/Aztec pyramid like what was talked about. Maybe if not a new castle, something else like even a huge mansion. They should have bought the land where the Shore 4 Theater was to make an even bigger attraction.

This is from the Moreys website in regards to the Coastin by the Ocean event regarding the design of Ghost Ship Island which will be a dark walk through attraction at the old mini golf site.. On the ride front, the group saw mock up drawings for the ghost ship ride, a haunted walk-through expected to be located where the miniature golf sits on Mariner's Landing Pier. "In regard to our proposed haunted house, the group provided input on things such as the following: the ideal levels of gore; whether or not we design in a chicken exit; and the overall theme and storyline," Jack Morey says.
Ulozas recommended that the gore level be reduced in the day time. "But later, approaching midnight, make it crazy. Everyone liked the idea.” He also recommended something similar to London's haunted towers, with an animatronic head hacked off. "The lights go out and everyone gets squirted with water. That could be the first scene."
Morey says the ride will likely feature low gore and high scare. "One of the ways to keep it low gore, but still grotesque, is to substitute bile for blood," he says.
