Okay, crazyaboutwildwood, why are you so upset??? You don't like Knoebels? Oh, you REALLY DO??? Sorry, I misunderstood you there. Did you take all those pictures? They're really good photos. Just thank goodness they didn'y get hit like they did in '72. Really a shame they still got it like they did. I love that park.

Ok, here's a question for you. Which dark ride do you like better? Dante's or Knoebel's Haunted Mansion? I think that Knoebel's Haunted Mansion is one of the best dark rides. Other ones include Rehoboth Beach's Haunted Mansion and Ocean City, MD's Haunted House built by Bill Tracy in 1962. Bill is the same guy that remodeled/built the great dark rides at Dorney Park and Wildwood in the 60's. All of Bill Tracy's work is gone at Dorney Park and Wildwood except the Golden Nugget props and Dr. Blood's props. The former Gold Mine at Dorney Park was a Bill Tracy creation, they converted a storage room in the basement of the Mansion Hotel into the Gold Mine in the 60's or 70's. Since it was torn down last fall, the last of Bill Tracy's work at DP is gone. I think Tracy also did the Alfundo clown head that used to be at the old entrance on top of the old building at the Thunderhawk. I hope Knoebel's didn't get too much damage. Bushkill got wiped out before! Did you know that Hunt's Pier and Dorney Park had a Whacky Shack? Even the WS letters were the same! DP's was a walk through and burned down in Dec. 1973, a month before my birth. There are also existing Whacky Shack dark rides at Waldameer, Erie, PA and at Joyland, Wichita, KS and a few other copycat shacks with different names.

No doubt Knoebel's Haunted Mansion is better than Dante's. It has a much nicer exterior which reminds me of Hitchcock Manor in Wildwood and it is a custom built dark ride. And yet I do like the fact that Dantes is 2 levels. However the best dark ride I have ever been on is the Ocean City Maryland Haunted Mansion. It has the custom quality of Knoebel's but the aspect of being 2 levels like Dante's. It is also the longest dark ride I have ever been on, almost 5 minutes! Stillwalk Manor in Seaside Heights is a close second and the Rehobeth Haunted Mansion and Myrtle Beach Haunted Hotel would be like 3rd and 4th.

Well, here I sit on the 4th of July in Hawaii, and believe it or not, I miss the shore back home! Miss walking the boardwalks and all the attractions. Here, they don't have anything like that. Actually, it can get boring. Would give anything right now to be in Wildwood or Ocean City, Maryland! Anyway--Happy July 4th everybody!!!!

Oh, yes, I really miss going to places like Knoebel's. Have they recovered from the flood damage? That place ALWAYS gets hit. But I really love the atmosphere there and I hope they never change it. Hope they recovered enough for the 4th. They DO have the best haunted ride. All my kids always loved it.

IS ANYBODY HERE? Maybe because it's vacation time. Well, Mr. Donald Trump bought the old Steel Pier. I guess he's recovered from the bankruptsy awhile back. HOW DO THESE PEOPLE DO IT!!!! Well, anyway, guess it will be more casinos; who knows.

And I guess I'm to blame for that. I got all my kids "hooked" on amusements, old parks, abandoned buildings; you name it. But we sure had fun doing it!!!!
