Ignis Fatuus.......The will-o'-the-wisp, sometimes will-o'-wisp or ignis fatuus Latin, from ignis ("fire") + fatuus ("foolish"), plural ignes fatui) refers to the ghostly lights sometimes seen at night or twilight over bogs, swamps, or marshes. It looks like a flickering lamp, and is sometimes said to recede if approached. Much folklore surrounds the phenomenon. Ghost Lights. 5292010.com/blog/

Is this that Ghost ship? The latin phrase seems a little highbrow for Wildwood LOL.

I think that phrase is being used because this project might not be what you (and most everyone) thinks it is. Remember, "Ignis Fatuus" can mean to mislead...... www.thefreedictionary.com/ignis+fatuus

Some are thinking that this may not be a walk through attraction at all. Vekoma has a new ride called the Pandora's Box. Here is a link describing it. www.vekoma.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=35&Itemid=30Seems like it can fit in a smaller space since the main part of the ride is a fixed tower and the arms swing around it. They may use the whole ghost ship theme to add a story to the ride itself like a boat lost at sea in a storm. Either way it will be interesting to see when it opens to the public.

This is from Terry O'Brien's column called the Undertow published in Exit Zero magazine. He is involved with the new ride at Morey's in case you didn't know.
Employment Opportunity of the Week: I’m going to be interviewing personnel to staff the new Morey’s Pier attraction on the 31st of this month. I’m also looking to fill a supervisor role, which entails more responsibility (and more $$$), so if you’re interested, hit me up on my Facebook or the EZ website.
Also interesting to note that Terry says Morey wants him to visit NYC’s Guggenheim Museum to see the works of Tino Sehgal and they are also sending Terry out to St. Louis. Halloween Productions is located in St. Louis. This is the company that has done alot of work for Morey's Pier amusements over the past years and must be involved in the new project.
Here is another excerpt from his column.
"Last Thursday at Morey’s Piers (and no, this space will NOT become a weekly infomercial about the wonders of Morey’s Piers… though it is pretty wonderful) I took a tour of the new construction site and, though there is still a loooong way to go, it’s going to be pretty great. I’m also looking for some talent to staff this thing, so if you know anyone looking for a summer job that will involve a fair amount of physicality and fun, drop a line. More than that I can’t say."

Looking at Halloween Productions work on 3-d mini golf set ups, maybe they plan on having a walkthrough 3-d haunted house with actors where the old golf was housed. Instead of golf, the layout may be the same. Here are some examples. www.blacklightattractions.com/www.blacklightattractions.com/blacklight_mini_golf.htmIts possible Moreys Piers will be attending this.... St. Louis, Missouri will once again host the annual Transworld Halloween and Haunted Attraction tradeshow March 25-29, 2010. The tradeshow will feature over 100,000 square feet of animations, props, costumes, supplies, special fx, and much more plus include seminars, events, and tours. To learn more about the show visit www.HauntShow.com.

Interesting that the blog for 5292010 is shutting down per Morey's request. The final clue about the date July 22 1943 has only turned up this interesting fact.....maybe it has something to do with a sub that went missing....the boat may be called Ignis Fatuus perhaps....a walkthrough haunted sub boat or warship maybe.....
July 22, 1943: The U. S. Submarine Triton has failed to return from patrol operations and must be presumed to be lost. The next of kin of personnel in the Triton have been so informed.

Rumor has it that it will be a return to the classic live actor based walk through haunted attraction with multi levels, indoor and outdoor settings and different weather condition effects. It will be what we have been waiting for.....finally a live haunt returns to the Boards.

If any, (or God willing), all of that actually comes to fruition, this new dark ride will be flat-out awesome; a return to the old school Wildwood days I grew up with.

Was down there this past Easter Weekend....saw alot...looks awesome.....seems like it is more of an Army warship with steel and rivets...they were painting the hull of the ship....upstairs they are building walls and walkways and rooms that take up the entire upper floors of the golf course. It looks like it will be a walkthrough ghost ship that uses all of the space that housed the mini golf course. They are doing an incredible job so far. Looks like it will be an amazing and scary walkthrough. Pics to come soon.
