Anyone planning to ride some dark rides this summer? Wildwood? Rehoboth Beach? Ocean City, MD? Knoebels? Those places have some of the best dark rides around, check out Rehoboth's ride-through Haunted Mansion. The Haunted Hotel ride at the Pavilion park in Myrtle Beach may be on the endangered list since the park is closing for good after this season. The ride was at the park since 1978 and was remodeled some years back. I hope they can somehow relocate it or incorporate it into the new development (condos, shops, attractions) that is replacing the amusement park.

Thats horrible about Pavillion Park! I went there in 2003 and shot tons of pics outside and video inside the Haunted Hotel. I heard something even back then that they were thinking of redeveloping the park but I hoped it wouldn't come true. Can anything cool ever not be developed into condos?! I even read that they are going to try to make Coney Island upscale after this season. If anyone loves dark rides and walk throughs you better get to Niagara Falls, Myrtle Beach and Coney Island soon or it seems they will turn them all into upscale restaurants and condos.

Well, I haven't heard about Coney's Dante's Inferno or Spook-A-Rama being torn down, or Niagara Falls remaining walk-through haunts or Myrtle Beach's two walk-through haunts (on the main strip seperate from the park) closing for something else, but in today's rapidly changing world, you never know. My advice is visit them this year because any one of them could not be around next year.
