I just found out Dante's ahs a new look, I'm going to Wildwood. Whats your oppions on the ride. I think I kind of like the gothic castle feel to it, but the paintings are gay (stupid cartoons) I havent seen the inside through. I would prefer the old one because it had that upsidedown head with the TWO dog heads, plus the fancade pictures were decent!

The new one's ok, but the old look was much better. The old neon Dante's Inferno sign was classic, and I also liked the upsidedown demon head.

Yeah, Halloween productions has the old dantes neon sign. The moreys traded it to get the rocks painted on the zoom phloom. Man I have been trying to get that sign. The moreys should have never got rid of it!

Typical that the Moreys are always looking to get something for free. Cheapos.

It seems someone on here is posting as Nickels and claiming that a new castle is being planned. They are swearing that it is all true. Whatever it is, a castle, mayan temple coaster is supposed to open in 2007. I can't believe that a new castle will be built in a year. Now they are saying that it will be both the walk-through horror attraction and the temple coaster. Did they happen to buy the rights to build on the old Shore 4 Theater site? Or is this all a big fat joke?

The moreys are going to sell that land to anyone! It will be a parking lot 1st. they wont do anything to help the nickels. As I said on another board, you cant have a coaster without any attractions around it. The nickels pier is dead! They have nothing to offer but on the other hand the castle works without the whole package of food games other rides etc.... Anyway the whole thing is a joke robert. I just dont see anything happening.

Yeah, like what happened to all the great rides! Stupid Morey's is making the darkrides stupid, I mean Jersey's junkyard is gay, they should redo it like they did to Devils's inn, to Whacky shack. .

Morey's just took the cheap way out when they put the Jersey Junkyard (it was Casa Macabra from 1996-98) there. They just bought a cheap carnival dark ride and didn't improve it much, unlike the Hunt's back in 1962 when they hired Bill Tracy to build the Whacky Shack from the Devils Inn which was the same type of small portable dark ride that the Junkyard is. Morey's did renovate all the dark rides, Dante's, Dark River to Pirates.

BTW, there was a much better dark ride on the current site of the Junkyard from 1964-1984 the Lost world formerly the Devils Inn on Fun Pier but it burned down.

too bad I was born 1992, cause I would of loved to go to wildwood, I mean, everytime, I go to a boardwalk, I look for big whitebuildings or black, and I check to see if its a darkride. It stinks, because wildwood had like 30 something darkrides, double deckers, Bill Tracy designed ones, and funhouses. Hopefully Morey will put another darkride thats not a cartoony like POW, cause that sucked, darkriver was better

Yeah, WW pretty much sucked in the 90's after Hunt's shut down and Sportland Pier's Dr. Blood's remained closed (it closed around 84) You 90's born kids missed out on WW's best decades, the 60's, 70's, and 80's. Hunt's was the best pier with all the themed rides. By 1992 Hunt's had gone bankrupt (the new owners who took over after Bud Hunt retired in fall 1985). If you look on Anthony's site under New Hunt's Pier/Conko's Party Pier-(the name of the pier in 1991), you will see what the pier looked like in 1992 etc. when some of the other rides were there. I believe the pier was closed the summer of 92, (my high school graduation year) I wasn't there that year, but I do know half the pier was shut in 95 (my first time back since 1983) and the front end had kiddie rides. That was the year the Catanoso brothers bought the pier before they renovated it into Dino Beach which only ran 3 years, 1996-1998. They (Catanosos) destroyed the Keystone Kops and Hunt's Horror (former Whacky Shack) dark rides. The Hunt's Horror was still standing but not operating in August 1995, but the following year it was gone. I was so bummed, because I failed to ride the Whacky Shack in 1983 when I was there right in front of it at 9 years old. It looked so creepy at night. Plokoon, did you check out the Hunt's Pier video on this site in the Wildwood Memories section? It was taken several years before you were born, the last year all the classic rides were there, 1988. There were lots of dark rides that passed away before your time, including the Morey's Pier walk-through Haunted House, 1972-1984. But, I was there in the early 80's and witnessed them all, even though I didn't go in all of them. If I can finish my RCT3 recreation of old Wildwood (circa 1980 or 1983) then it will sort of be like a virtual trip back in time. I have enough knowledge plus these websites to do all the rides accurately. One more thing, did you Plokoon go in Castle Dracula before it burned? That was one scary dark ride/walk-through. There were two seperate attractions, a dungeon boat ride in the basement and the castle walk-through above.

About Pirates of WW, it seems Morey's wanted to make the ride less scary and more "family-friendly" because I guess they are marketing Mariner's Landing as a "family" pier for parents with young children. Morey's is aimed more at teenagers. Does the new Dante's seem more or less scary than the old Dante's?

Why don't you go to WW and see what Dante's is like for yourself? You love to talk about it so much and you haven't been there in like 15 years. Get a life.
