It's not about the movie. It's all about the music. It's totally always about the msusic. In time... The 1980's twilight zone Tv show remake, there were some classic episodes. One with Bruce Willis before he was famous is great. I bought the first season on DVD, it was worth it. They say their is no way a good horror movie can be made these days. If it's well written and borrows from realism then it gets categorized as a thriller. If it involves any plot deeper the some coward torturing people then it's categorized as science fiction or suspense. Saw, Hostel, Reststop, and every other horror movie I see at the rental store are all the same, they differ like saturday morning cartoons, different characters always doing the exact same thing over and over again. Back in the day you had unique and genuine story's with fresh styles. Pet Semetary, A Nightmare on Elm street, the Warlock, Jaws, The people under the Stairs, Psycho, Poltergeist just to name a few managed to stand apart time and time again. I will begin making movies when I get my degree from Temple.
I'm starting to think the best horror movies were made in the 1960s and 1970s. Afterall it was movies like those that inspired Draculas Castle.
Some of the new horror movies are pretty good at frightening me. I find myself having a hard time watching things like the Saw series and Hostle. The cringe factor is quite high in those. Its like watching the eye in splinter scene from Zombi over and over again. I'm not sure if I actually like these. I have them in my collection but I never watch them more then once where as something like Dawn of the Dead I've watched many times.
