Without the castle there is no reason to go to this gay ass town! What kind of people live in this town? I was there in 1990 and it sucked and it was boring.

This town has more sucky condos like Wildwood does now. No amusements, nothing. From what I read the town doesn't want tourists anymore, just old retired people renting condos. If a new castle would ever happen, which it won't, it would be a tourist magnet which Brigantine doesn't want. They had problems in the old castle's final days with too many people being bused in, teens urinating on people's lawns, etc. It became too much for the town to handle, so they closed the castle. It was condemned anyway so it woudn't have mattered of it didn't burn, it was in the process of demolition anyway so it was doomed either way. Haunted Mansion and Castle Dracula were freak accidents, the owners never intended or planned to raze them but the fires did the work for them whether they liked it or not. I'd say fat chance we'll ever see a multi-level haunt in NJ again. The best ones are in Seaside now.

O.k, I know this is an old thread. I have to add my opinion. Yes, Brigantine has drifted off the map after the demise of our Brigantine Castle.
I grew up in Brigantine and watched as they build the castle and was there with my cousins the very day it opened on Memorial day in 1976 at 10:00am. It was a very scary day for me at the young age of nine. Before that day, Brigantine was a quite fishing town. Once again, after the Castle, it is now once again a quite fishing and surfing town.
Gay ass town doesn't make your point coherent. If you like to surf some good waves, then we have some good beach breaks that break long after a good storm with a nice 5 mile offshore breeze that make the waves curl like barrels.
Brigantine has past a new law that prohibits any more 2 story dwellings.

The last time I was in brigantine was in 1990. I stayed at a hotel called the La Samana or somthing like that. It was very nice and expensive. Back then, $250.00 a night was alot of money. The town was very nice then.

Brigantine is still very nice. Hubby and I stay there often. Cheaper than staying at a casino in AC.

Brigantine is still very nice. Hubby and I stay there often. Cheaper than staying at a casino in AC. A friend of mine was bragging the other night that he could get a hotel room in Atlantic City for 45 bucks a night. He went down on saturday for some comedy thing.I asked him when he got back how much did you get a room for and he was like 270.00 for a night for some hotel in town ( not the casino) I guess when they are booked up on the weekends its expensive and when the town is emty they give the rooms away? Anyone know more?
